Carbon Fiber makes perfect sense as a cleaning rod material. It is more resilient than steel, so if you do bend it, it springs right back to its original straightness. It doesn't have to be coated to protect the barrel and grit will not imbed in the shaft. There is, of course, more to a cleaning rod than just the shaft. You will find the handle to be quite comfortable, and although you cannot see them, two sets of steel ball bearings (one on each end) provide for smooth, dependable rotation of the rod as it follows the rifling. The "shank-through" construction also allows the user to apply "reasonable" hammer blows to the end of the cleaning rod to get a tight patch through a bore. This rod has standard 5/40" threads and is 36" long;
